DANA Receives Close To $27,000 In Donations

Bandar Seri Begawan - DANA Pengiran Muda Mahkota AI-Muhtadee Billah for orphans (DANA) yesterday received a total amount of $26,376.42 during the donation handover ceremony held at the Multipurpose Hall, Level 4 of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex. Present to receive the donations was Dato Paduka Haji Ali Hashim bin Haji Daud, Chief Executive Officer of DANA.
St James' School donated $14,469.95 and was presented by the Principal, Haji Abdullah bin Othman. The donation was part of the contributions collected during a walkathon organised by the school on March 3. The walkathon was one of DANA's side projects. DANA allocates a certain amount of grant to support the school in hosting fund-raising events. The aim of the initiative is to encourage and support students to be involved in more voluntary and community events.

The Kampong Lumut 11 Consultative Council donated $4,306.47 and was presented by Cikgu Haji Abdullah bin Othman, Deputy Chairman of the Kampong Lumut 11 Consultative Council. The donation was part of the contributions collected during the council's jogathon event held last April. Meanwhile, Maktab Duli Pengiran Muda Mahkota AlMuhtadee Billah donated $3,750 and was presented by Awg Haji Muhd Masa Masdi bin Muhd Sa'idun, Acting Principal of Maktab Duli. The amount donated was part of the contributions collected from the college's jogathon event held last April.

The Royal Customs and Excise Department Sports and Welfare Body also made contributions totalling $850, part of the contributions collected from a golf tournament held recently. Prior to this, the sports and welfare body donated $3,000 to DANA on May 27 during the golf tournament event. The donations were presented by Awg Haji Kamsani bin Haji Mohd Hassan, Chairman of the Royal Customs and Excise Department Sports and Welfare Body Charity Golf Tournament. Insurans Islam TAIB Does Its Part For Charity

Bandar Seri Begawan - Insurans Islam TAIB has provided special donation boxes at its branches to encourage the public to donate generously to orphans registered under the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah's Foundation (YSHHB). According to Hj Osman Hj Md Jair, the Managing Director for Insurans Islam TAIB, the donation boxes have been placed at four Insurans Islam TAIB branches in Bandar Seri Begawan, Kiulap, and Kuala Belait and at the Executive Office on the fourth floor of RBA Plaza BSB. They will remain at those locations until September 30.

The donation boxes are aimed at strengthening the relationship between Insurans Islam TAIB and YSHHB through charitable activities, especially those involving orphans in the country. Hj Osman further added that the donation boxes were an idea by the Insurans Islam TAIB management as a way of contributing to YSHHB, which has been supportive of the Takaful Plan for the Orphans, an Insurans Islam TAIB product. Currently there are 1,713 children registered under the Takaful plan. TEAM EFFORTS - TO ASSIST FIRE VICTIMS

Donations To Fire Victims

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Community Development Department, in collaboration with Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and the Brunei Islamic Religious Council Department, yesterday held a donation handover ceremony at Dewan di Gadong, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. The donations were aimed at easing the burden of fire victims and repairing the damages caused by the fire. Present at the event was Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Pehin Major General (Rtd) Dato Seri Haji Awang Mohammad bin Haji Daud. Also in attendance were Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Managing Director Dato Paduka Haji Ali Hashim Haji Daud and Brunei Islamic Religious Council Department Secretary Pengiran Haji Bahrom Pengiran Haji Bahar.

The Community Development Department donated some $13,400; $7,400 to the fire victims, $2,000 for housing construction, and $4,000 for repair works. The recipients comprised of three families from Kampung Lambak B and a family from Perpindahan Lambak Kanan, with $5,200 to Dyg Hajah Tuah Daman, $400 to Dayangku Haslinda Pengiran Othman, $800 to Awang Metassim Haji Mokti, and $1,000 to Awang Hamid Teguh. Some $2,000 in donation was presented to Awang Osmena Abdullah, while Dayang Jamilah Gapar, Dayang Jamilah Haji Sulaiman, Dayang Hajah Fatimah Haji Adam and Dayang Bayong @ Rayoh Hidup each received $1,000 for repair works. Meanwhile, Dato Paduka Haji Ali Hashim, representing Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, handed over $1,900 in contribution to the families of Dayang Hajah Tuah Daman and Awang Metassim Haji Mokti. Local Eatery To Give July 1 Proceeds To Pusat Ehsan

Bandar Seri Begawan - Kind and generous donors play a big part in the day to-day operations of Pusat Ehsan, as a non-government organisation, to assist special individuals. At least $26,000 in expenditure (excluding donated food items) is needed every month to operate the centre, and 90 per cent of the money is used to pay the salaries of rehabilitation facilitators and other personnel who work hard to support the centre. This was said by Pusat,Ehsan Senior-,Trustee Dato - Paduka Mohd Alimin bin Abdul Wahab during a press conference for an upcoming charity event, organised by Arthini Cafe & Catering. The event is the first of such initiative offered by a local eatery, whereby its proceeds on July 1 will be contributed to Pusat Ehsan.
Pusat Ehsan personnel, volunteers and special individuals will also join in the event, which will see a variety of products up for sale including the centre's handicraft products. Pusat Ehsan Executive Trustee Pengiran Datin Hjh Noraini Pengiran Haji Abdul Momin said the event aims to provide the special individuals with much-needed exposure, especially in terms of social skills. The events will also highlight-a-number.-of cash contributions by associate companies and pledges, which have already surpassed $6,000, said an Arthini Cafe & Catering spokesperson. The initiative is held in conjunction with the eatery's first anniversary, and members of the public are welcome to support the event, which runs from 9 am until 9 pm on July 1. "We are lucky to have the support of our contributors, who have been by our side throughout the years," said Dato Paduka Mohd Alimin.
